Merry Christmas

Oh what a glorious day

T'was The Night Before Christmas

We have a fairly large family, there were five of us children.   I have some of the fondest memories of Christmas.  One of them is the book, The Night Before Christmas pictured below.  We grew up with this wonderful book and it is torn, tattered, written in, smudged.  It is still very sentimental to me.

Goodbye Sweet Chewy

Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet Great Pyrenees. Everyone at the animal hospital fell in love with him also. Not a dry eye was found on anyone. I appreciate their kind and excellent care.  He was stricken with a sickness that he could not come back from. We will miss our dear chicken protector, pet and friend.
Chewy had such a loving, sweet, loyal manner about him, yet that very protective side.
I have never owned such a sweet dog with such a wonderful personality.  He will be missed.

Goodbye my dear friend.

Also a goodbye to my oldest hen Cora
She left us this week also.
Cora was a wonderful layer and a hen with such a personality, she was one that didn't want
Motley Crow her rooster to have any other hens and never let him forget it....

I don't know how my grandparents did this farm animal life. I guess they just took it all in stride and went on. I have a habit of making every animal my pet naming them, singing to them...oh well

We have other hens and will get another dog. It won't be Chewy but just the same I know he will be loved and enjoyed.

Retro: The Day the Atomic Bomb Fell In Our County

I have heard about this my entire life but never really looked into it. Everyone around will tell you about the day the Atomic Bomb fell in the Mars Bluff Area in our county.  People have told of the huge hole that it left on that property. All I know is that we are blessed that nothing more happened on that day March 11, 1958.  I would have been 4 years old at the time.

Dot's Fall Garden

I have been spending some time with my precious Mama "Dot".  She has not been feeling well and I cherish every moment with her. It would mean so much to me if you would please pray for a quick recovery for her.
She as you may know is an avid gardener and in the Spring I shared her beautiful flower gardens. I took a walk the other day and took some marvelous shots. If she were well the leaves would be raked but I find her garden to be beautiful anyway. I offered to rake them but she said to me, "No, leave them for the children they love to rake and fall in them."

Our Visit to the Ovis Hill Farm Festival

Look at those faces!

Every year we go to a sheep farm that is separated from us by a strip of swamp land.  We all like the farm.  It is very beautiful!

His Beauty is Everywhere

When things seem to be so overwhelming it is good to take a step
back and look at this beautiful world God has given us to live in.
Aren't we so lucky and blessed.
The beauty that surrounds us is breathtaking.
I love living out here enjoying all of the peace, quiet and beauty.

The sun coming up this morning, the sky is a work of art

I hope each of you take the time to enjoy
each day, moment, and notice the beauty around you.

Let's Take a Beautiful Home Tour

Beautiful exterior
(I want to apologize up front for my poor photography, because the home is beautiful and my pictures do not do it justice.)
The family always enjoys our time together at this home.  We do so much in fact that we hate to leave when we visit. I love it here and wanted to share it with you.

Soups For A Rainy Day Plus Hoarding Update!

Looking back into the archives for a few soup recipes. These rainy days bring that to mind soup and sandwiches.  An added plus is that you can throw them together and let them simmer all day in crock pot if you have more important things to do such as looking at craft magazines for your next adventure.

Dirty Little Hoarding I Mean "Collecting" Shed

What do you do when you downsize.
You build a smaller home only take from older larger home what you think you will use.
Well you would think that is what one would do.

When Dolly Met Victor

This was a few years back and it was during Sun Fun at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I love our beach! We are so lucky to live within a short distance from our shores. This was held as a part of that festival at Market Commons.
Today I share with you my meeting Eric Braeden aka Victor Newman from The Young & The Restless and numerous other shows.

Family, Rat Patrol and Soap Operas : Part One

Today my post is about memories as a young girl watching television with my family. It would start off with a black and white set of course because in those days that is how it was.
