Now in his own words:

I would have to say first of all that my artistic talent is God given.  I started artwork by taking lessons at the age of 10, with my first love being faces.  I took lessons for 2 years, but did not become fully interested in artwork until the age of 16.

Most of my subject work at that time was mostly sports related.  Growing up in a sports oriented family gave me the desire to be the best at what I do.  Art was always just a hobby for me growing up, until 4 years ago when I decided to make it a full time profession.

My first memories of artwork, were sitting on my father's lap as a young child watching him doodle things like army men and cartoon characters.  My older sister and brother took lessons with me, and also share the same talent.

My desire to be the best at what I do led me to try various mediums and techniques.  It took a lot of research, trial and era to show me the different areas of work that I felt most comfortable with.  As I grow older I'm determined that art is a never ending lesson.  Never be afraid to try new things.

In the last 4 years I decided to take the Sports Theme to a new level by trying a different canvas for my work.  My Sports Artwork is now being painted on jerseys, ball, helmets, and anything else that will accept paint.

Through that new canvas I have had the pleasure of working with several different professional athletes to help raise money for their charities.  I have fond memories of helping Troy Brown and Mike Bartrum.  I helped them raise thousands from 5 hand painted jerseys that were auctioned off at their charity event a few years back.

Night is Falling at Hibiscus House

The most peaceful times of the day to me are early morning at sunrise and the short twilight time before sunset. The sky here over Hibiscus House is a work of art nightly.
It can take your breathe away, because it is so peaceful and beautiful. God paints the sky.
I was walking one late afternoon and saw the most beautiful sights.  The white old fashioned roses that are so faithful and carefree. My sister gave me one sprig and no matter where I live those roses come with me. The white picket fence, and in the distance our neighbors across the road have their lights on.
You can hear the animals settling in for the night.  The roosters crow one last time the hens are cackling lowly and perching.  Behind the property toward the swamp you can hear wild dogs barking and the occasional coyote...birds of the night sing their songs...rabbits are creeping out to eat their nightly meal.... If you sit quietly on the porch you can see this and the occasional doe with her fawn gracefully walk in front of you.

And now in her own words:

I must say my life has been a roller coaster of events.  My father and former husband were career Air Force, which meant we moved from coast to coast, border to border, and to Japan and Okinawa.  Along these many roads traveled, I absorbed the local history and stored it away on my human data disc not knowing it would be put to use in the future.

Growing up I was not an avid reader.  That would have meant sitting still.  I was that tomboy running around the playground slapping her side, pretending to ride a horse.  I played cowboy and indians from dawn to dust, except on Saturdays.  On Saturdays I watched Hoppy, Roy Rogers, Annie Oakley, Sky King, etc. until my Dad was tired of it and changed the channel to golf.  That's all it took to shoo me out the door.  My sister and I then headed for the local movie house with our quarter and a Sugar Daddy, where we spend the afternoon at the double feature.

Although I never thought of it that way, writing has been a part of my life during my career.  Anyone who writes business letters, manuals, or presentations is an author.  The potential to write is there.  When I started reading romances I used to think, "I can do that."  Believe me it's harder than I thought.

About fifteen years ago I started doing genealogy.  My husband would say I became "obsessed" with genealogy.  While my family is typical of every American family, I thought their struggle in the new land would make an interesting story.  With these tales in tow I started writing.  I love to combine fiction and facts to write what I call "faction."  I enjoy talking to readers at book signings and hear what they found the most fascinating in what I wrote.  They also tell me their family stories.  These I store again on my internal disc for future reference.

I have a degree in history but that's not necessary to write.  What is necessary is the "fire in your belly" to accept criticism and still be able to go on writing.  I hope this inspires your readers to share their stories.  I can't wait to read them.

Catie's Trip Across Country

We have just celebrated our 235th year of independence and isn't it wonderful?  We are such a blessed country and people.  We are so blessed in fact until we tend to take that for granted. Let us stop and think about how God has and continues to bless us.
Catie had such a beautiful trip across country from Oregon to South Carolina.  She was lucky to have had this experience.  I would love to do that, travel through so many states. To see the snow capped mountains, the valleys, the flat lands, the desert, the monuments, the way of life how different we all are in different parts of the country and yet how very much the same we are.
