My Version of  Dry Onion Soup Gravy Recipe

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter or margarine if you prefer

1 tablespoon  all-purpose flour

1/3 cup of my homemade dry onion soup mix

2 cups water

Instructions

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat

Add flour stirring until smooth, cooking the flour & butter until smooth and golden for about 2 minutes. Continue stirring to prevent burning.

Add water stirring to mix well add dry soup mix and bring to a slight boil, stirring.

Lower the temperature stirring and simmering to get the right consistency. Simmer for around five minutes.

Put on low to keep warm until serving.

My substitutions are:

I used butter instead of  margarine

I used 2 cups water instead of 1 1/2 cups *

* I tend to like my gravy a little thinner than their recipe.

Your homemade dry onion soup mix sounds delicious and so versatile! I love that you’ve shared both a quick version and larger recipes for storage. It’s great to have pantry staples on hand that you can use in a variety of dishes. The combination of flavors you’ve included, like the beef bouillon and garlic powder, must add a wonderful depth to soups and gravies. Thanks for sharing your recipe—I can’t wait to try it out! I’d love for you to check out my new post!
