  1. You have the most interesting posts. How many eggs do you get per day? I've never kept chickens but had quails just for fun years ago until a Racoon got them. Even though I live downtown can hear a Rooster crowing occasionally. There are chickens free-roaming in a Walmart parking lot near me. People love seeing them and feeding them corn on the cob. They even made the newspaper! In Key West chickens and cats roam free co-existing. It's a blessing to live with animals, and I admire all the effort you put into your flock. Happy Mother's Day

    1. Hi Eileen, Thank you! I have cut my flock down to only 5 hens and one kinda mean little rooster. I used to have around 40 hens around here, but minimizing for sure in all ways. The gardening, planting, and chickens ...But we get almost 100% eggs laid around here. Almost daily we get 5 eggs. I have to say Kalmbach feed is the reason behind that. The Purina feeds prevented so many from laying any eggs so stopped getting that. Now with the good feed, scraps and now I'm going to plant some things for them to eat that will be even better. My Mother & Father in law have now passed away , but that man would come scoop up 4--18 count cartons of eggs every few days. He almost wiped me out was giving them to everyone he knew....oh well...They got some good eggs lol..xoxo Happy Mother's Day!

  2. We always had a hen house on the farm and quite a few chickens. It was my job to feed them the mash in the morning and to gather eggs. There were a couple that sat on their nests and would always peck me when I tried to get their eggs. I did NOT like those chickens. lol. xo Diana

    1. I don't blame you one bit for not liking them! We had to put two roosters down around here they kept spurring me until I thought I would bleed to death! True, so my sharp shooter husband took them out. There's nothing like a mean chicken!
