Cecil said this August 25th about Dolly:
"I think it was 1978. I interviewed Dolly at Francis Marion College. That’s when I asked her if she was planning on doing any movies, and she told me just the week before that she had talked to someone about doing a movie about her song 9to 5. We’ll miss you, Dolly. You were a great person and a great entertainer."
She came to town on that day for a concert that benefited Big Brothers.
You can't imagine, as a young teen, my thrill watching a show on the one television we had in the home. (had to watch what the parents watched; that's how it was in those days). Turns out I sure am glad!
The show was called The Porter Wagoner Show. He had a guest singer named Dolly Parton. What! Another Dolly! Yes! She replaced Norma Jean. She sang like an angel and was very pretty too. The rest is history. You know she filled our hearts with music! I always had a bond with her because of her name and then fell in love with Dolly like everyone else.
You friends here probably know my name is Dolly. Can you imagine, as a little girl with a very different name, how it felt to find out another person had that name? I was named after a deceased relative I never got to meet. I never realized the name was so different until others, especially teachers, would look surprised. They would say to my parents, "No, but what is her name really"? They always thought it was my nickname. Excuse my me me me talk, but thinking about my bond with Dolly.
I am heartbroken she is gone, but I know she is in a better place.

How she and her coat of many colors impacted us. My girls know how much I love her; the whole family does. They gave me a great Dolly birthday party a while back. I'll share that one day soon.
When my pretty little girls were small, I made most of their dresses, and I would sing or play "Dolly's Coat of Many Colors" to them. (bless their little hearts). Sometimes we would buy fancy store-bought dresses too. I always thought they liked those best, but I was wrong. I found out later the dresses they liked the most were the ones I made for them.💞 A touching thing to find out!

The whole world lost a very special person this past week. A famous, talented singer with more personality and love than most! She had the personality that made each of us feel we could walk up to her at any time and give her a hug. She seemed so genuine and loving, like family to us all.
My emotions got away with me when I wrote this.
I've been sad this past week, along with most of the world. It's taken a little while for the news to sink in. The fact that Dolly Parton has died. The sheer idea of it is mind-boggling. Mourning someone you've never met but feels like family. She had that knack for sure. I don't think she ever met a stranger. She was such a beautiful person. The whole world seemed to love her. That can't be said about many. She was precious! I'll bet she is with our Lord right now, singing her heart out!
Be in prayer for the friends and family of Dolly Parton. give, if possible, to The Imagination Library
She's taught us one thing for sure
We need to live life to the fullest
With the love and happiness she showed to everyone!
