The Never-ending Christmas!

This week has been a great one with friends sharing some of their most cherished Christmas memories. I asked some Facebook friends if any would like to share and immediately got responses.  We've had an outpouring from friends.  This is the last in the series of posts in our Christmas Traditions, Decorations, and Memories.

Today Lesley shares Christmas!

Christmas In Her Own Words:

Christmas to me is never "over", rather, it is a state of mind. To me Christmas is a life filled with gratefulness to God for His gift of each and every day, for health, happiness, joy, and love that is encompassed within each 24 hours of life.  Life itself is a daily Christmas gift, 365 days each year.

I was fortunate and blessed to truly have an idyllic childhood.  Mom was fortunate to be a stay at home Mom, taking care of 4 girls, all very close in age.  Dad worked first of all as an NBA player with the Philadelphia 76ers, and then moved on to become the very first head coach of the new NBA expansion team, the Milwaukee Bucks.  Although both my parents are now enjoying God's glory in Heaven, the morals, ethics, and values they instilled in my sisters and I continue to live on.

My sisters and I each year take an annual "sister trip" together to reconnect and remember our times growing up.  Living in different cities and states within the United States, we wanted to make sure we continue to have time to connect, especially since life can be so hectic and just plain busy.

Christmas to me is about family, forgiveness, love, faith and belief.  I feel in order to be balanced, a person needs an equal portion of all these elements.  Once this is worked on and achieved, the true essence of Christmas spirit lives on throughout the entire year.

I love the lights at Christmastime on Christmas trees, as well as in and on homes and businesses.

The coziness that these lights provide, whether they are gloriously colored lights, or clean white lights, provide a true warmth within the often dark world we live in.  Gazing at the lights often takes me back in time to my childhood, watching the family Christmas tree all lit up with its accompanying tinsel sprayed everywhere.  When time was easy, family love was full, and the expectation of Christmas morning was but a night away.

Closing thoughts:

My prayer is that you have a wonderful Christmas time filled with family, love, hope, faith and happiness, not just at Christmas, but during every day of the year.  For God is good, all the time.
