Homemade Glass Cleaning Mixtures For Windows, Mirrors, Eyeglasses

Hi All!

Let's clean glass today!

WINDOWS, MIRRORS ALL GLASS

MICROFIBER CLOTHS ARE GREAT FOR CLEANING

  • Wash new microfiber cloths, but never use fabric softener.
  • Use Dry or Wet.  Whatever works for the glass you are cleaning
  • Remember No Cleaner is needed.

Homemade Window or Mirror Cleaners

MY OWN FAVORITE WINDOW DEEP CLEANING MIXTURE

This Mixture Is Placed In A Small Bucket or Bowl & Another Container Filled With Clean Clear Water to Rinse.

  • Mix in a bucket
  • Warm water for washing/cleaning
  • Dawn Ultra Dish Soap 1/2 tsp per gallon of water used.
  • A washcloth or a microfiber cloth for cleaning
  • Put clean water in another bucket for rinsing
  • Dry glass with a soft lint-free cotton or microfiber cloth.
This is my personal go-to mixture when I am deep cleaning the windows and mirrors!  It may take a little more muscle but it works I promise! I've used it for many years with great success.

Variation:  You can also add 1/4 tsp Jet Dry Finish Rinse Aid to the above cleaning mixture.

Recycle Plastic Bottles if you wish
but use Tinted Spray Bottles if adding essential oils.

A FEW TIPS WHEN MAKING CLEANING MIXTURES FOR SPRAYS

When storing for use later: Always use Distilled Water. You can also boil some water and then cool for use. This will help to prevent mold buildup.

White vinegar can be replaced with lemon juice.  The choice is yours!

You can add a little corn starch to most recipes.  Shake to mix thoroughly.  It bonds and helps make the cleaners more streak-free.

You can add your favorite Essential Oils to give a pleasant scent and to add disinfecting qualities. Tea Tree Oil is especially good for this. Lemon, lemongrass, orange, lavender, even Peppermint Oils are great for this.  I like Peppermint oil!  It is good at keeping ants and spiders away.

There is nothing more appealing than clean and windows that sparkle only add to the beauty!

        1. Thanks for the window cleaning ideas. Always looking for a good window cleaner that doesn't leave streaks. I have used straight alcohol and news paper before and it works ok but I like the mixture you posted better. I will use lemon juice instead of vinegar. I hate the smell of vinegar. I never thought to use lemon juice. I’m so on this now. I’m also ready to do some spring cleaning as soon as St. Patrick’s day is over.

          1. Hi Lisa,
I'd forgotten about the alcohol and newspaper..We used to do that all the time. Between you, me and whoever reads this, I hate the smell of vinegar too!  I need to quit writing about and actually do a little of it! Laughing.
