Celery Juice Update Including A Few Side Effects!

I'm posting this update for those that may be interested in how the celery juicing may be going with us here.  There have been a few important things that I felt needed to be shared with you.

The Following are My Personal Reactions and Notes As I've Gone Along.

 CONS

  • The celery with no added liquid takes a while to blend in a blender. I do not like how a food processor chops the celery.
  • The squeezing of the pulp is very messy!  I used a thin tea towel. I must buy one of those things made for juicing or get more cheesecloth. Either way, a nuisance to do this step. I foresee a juicer in my future!
  • The squeezing the juice from the pulp is very messy.  I don't like it, but it is a necessary step.
  • I got a total of 8 ounces from my whole head of celery, not the 16 ounces they talk about!
  • I drank 8 ounces and the taste at first is very bland.  While drinking it began to taste extremely bitter.  Do I love the taste? No! Do I like the taste? No! It is kind of awful.
  • Will I drink it first thing in the morning?  Probably not!  **I am not an early morning breakfast eater, even.  That tends to make me nauseous
  • Will I continue?  Yes, I will.
  • Will I drink first thing in the morning?  Probably not!
  • I jokingly said, "Dang I feel dizzified"!  That is a word my funny Aunt Fannie used to say.  She had her own sayings and they have stuck with us all! In other words, it made me a little dizzy.
  • I've had two rather irritating and possibly dangerous side effects! I have them noted at the bottom of the post.

PROS AND SUGGESTIONS

  1. I cut the celery up very small and it blends up much better.
  2. I did order a Nut Bag Handle Strainer with HandleTwist  (I'll show picture end of the post). It helps so much and isn't as messy as a huge bag, tea towel, or cheesecloth.  I like it!
  3. I did learn to drink it first thing in the morning! Surprise to me!
  4. I will make and drink the 8 oz a whole stalk/head of my celery makes. Half the suggested. I think that should do something.
  5. Will I add anything to improve the taste?  Nope, and in fact, it is getting easier to drink daily, if I sip instead of drinking it down fast.
  6. I have found out if yours is impossibly bitter like mine don't add the leaves and it is drinkable. Actually, it isn't as bad in taste, I think you get somewhat used to it.
  7. It seems to reduce hunger and thirst! That is a good thing!
  8. I lost 4 pounds in the first week! Amazingly I've kept it off!
  9. It does act as a laxative.  That can be a good thing but stay close to the restroom for the beginning of the juicing.
  10. A personal note:  I've begun to think of it as a laxative, when not drinking things change. (If you get my drift).
  11. I actually felt better upon drinking. It cut out one cup of my two cup coffee mornings.
  12. It does wake you up and make you think clearer, first thing in the morning.
  13. I did feel much better and wasn't as sluggish!

BAD SIDE EFFECT FOR ME! BLEEDING!

ALSO, I AM A VERY ALLERGIC PERSON AND I HAVE HAD A MONTH LONG BOUT WITH COUGHING.I'M NOT SURE IF THE CELERY JUICE DID THAT BUT IT HAS SUBSIDED FOR NOW. I EAT CELERY AND LOVE IT, BUT MAYBE THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF IT MAY HAVE CAUSED THAT REACTION.  I JUST DON'T KNOW.

I guess the increased blood flow is what caused me the troubles.

I cut the tip of one of my fingers and it wasn't deep at all.  It bled for the longest time.  In fact, I had an extremely hard time stopping the bleeding!  When it was all over I found blood all over the place. I wasn't used to bleeding that badly and didn't see the blood until afterward. It was on the countertop, fridge, door frame and even the light switch. Then that night evidently it bled again profusely it was on sheets and bed skirt. Man, that was scary.

I tried to continue on but not as much and not every day. My nose began to bleed out of the blue. Not a normal nose bleed. I just don't have them. It was just weird and scary.

I started this January 30th,. I drank it daily and last week I drank it 5 out of 7 days.  This week I drank some Monday, Feb. 24th. I haven't had any since then, due to cuticles bleeding badly.

SADLY I'VE HAD TO QUIT DRINKING TOTALLY FOR NOW.  I MAY RESUME LATER BUT TAKING A BREAK FOR NOW.

I FOUND THIS VIDEO AND IT HAS A LOT OF HELPFUL INFO

Hubby has stopped with the juice because of certain medications he is taking.
We didn't want any adverse effects to happen to him.

I will probably juice again, but only if the unexpected bleeding subsides.
I truly don't think many people have this adverse side effect, at least I hope not!
I felt led to share for those that may.
It is too serious not to share.

I'm placing the link to Amazon where I purchased my bag. I have used it for other things while cooking.  It is a great addition to any kitchen and works so well.
It separates all of the pulp from the clear green juice and even strains tea leaves.
I'll be doing a Product Review on that one later.

Review on the Celery Juice is on hold for the moment!
