More Southern Sayings

You know, we in the South do have a way with words
My grandparents & Great grandparents really had their own way of speaking
And my daddy spoke like he was Cajun at times

Just a fun post

"Everbody"  knows what y'all means

"Everbody" ~ Everyone, every person

"Y'all" --All of you, or "everbody"--everyone, "All y'all" --every single one of you

"Jeet" pronounced Jah eat -- Did you eat?

"You going down der"?  -- Are you going down there?

"Over yonder." --over there

"Right over yonder" ~ not very far away

'Way over yonder" ` ~ "A far piece over der" ~ meaning a long way from here. It's over there.

"Look a daer" ~ Look there where I'm showing you right there

"Fer" ~ For, like for you, Or Far, like It's a Fer (Far) piece from here or a long way away.

"I don't relish the idea" --  I don't like that very much.
