Our Trip Up Walton's Mountain

A few years back we took a trip up the mountain to see Earl Hamner's Home and
The Walton's Mountain Museum in Schuyler, Virginia.

The 11 mile ride up the mountain was absolutely beautiful! A beautiful stream or it could have been the Rockfish River was flowing across lovely rocked areas. Children were swimming, people were fishing. It was really beautiful.  If you get the chance to go you should.

Before we went up the mountain we went into this store, which was filled with autographed pictures of the actors and memorabilia, it was interesting to look around in there also.

I've been told that I like talking about the old times.. I guess that's right. I love the present too and look forward to the future, but guess I am very sentimental and it shows. Maybe it is because I have this front porch and rocking chairs and live in the middle of nowhere. It could be that I remember my grandparents sitting on their porch and reminiscing.  I believe it is that I love the simple things in life and always have.

    1. Hi JoAnne,
It is so good to hear from you! It is awesome I agree, funny how something so simple can seem so grand. I hope you do get there sometime. Though it is so simple the ride getting there, so quite and peaceful, words can't explain the beauty of it all. Earl Hamner really did have a wonderful life there I am sure of it now. Thanks for visiting!

  3. OH, I LOVE this show. They are always airing episodes on The Hallmark Channel. Did you know that the "Walton" home on the tv show, was later used as The DRagonfly Inn in the tv series Gilmore Girls? Yep...and parts of Rockfish, are also the set for Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls ;) :) I recognized some of the sets :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of CAlifornia, Heather :)

  9. To this very day, "The Waltons" is still one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I'm quite sentimental, too, so older family shows from my childhood conjure up wonderful memories.

Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday. I hope you'll join the fun each week. ;)

    Blessings,

  10. Love love love The Waltons -- always have, from the time it first came on when I was a junior in high school. We own the complete series on dvd and watched through it over the past couple of years as a family (we have never had cable or satellite so my children had never seen it before). Thanks for sharing.

  15. I've been watching The Walton's reruns for a couple weeks now, since a personal life tragedy gave me a deep need to experience simpler times. Its brought many a tear to my eyes. Really like this show

    1. Hi Bunni,
I'm sorry for your tragedy. Times can be so hard in life. The most simple things in life are sometimes the most important. The Walton's are so sweet and they remind me of my grandparents and how they lived.
You take care of yourself and I will be praying for you.
