INFORMATION On This Thing Called COVID-19 Disrupting Our Lives Be In Prayer

By now I suppose you are as sick of hearing about this mess as I am. However, there is no getting away from it. Dealing with the facts that have been given is the best way. This past week has been rather hectic. I'm personally tired from preparing and trying to prevent the spread of the CoronaVirus to our home.
Did you know we are all susceptible to get or carry this virus from merely breathing?  It is airborne that they are sure of. Since we all have to breath there is no way to escape without taking precautions.
A day of prayer today is requested to overcome this awful disease.  I can think of no better way to protect ourselves than to be in prayer today and every day.
Today's post is information taken from two sources, the CDC and The World Health Organization. I hope the little that is known about this virus will be helpful.

He does say, "If it looks like you're overreacting, then you're probably doing the right thing."

DO THE FIVE
  1. HANDS Wash them often
  2. ELBOW Cough into it
  3. FACE Don't touch it
  4. FEET Stay more than 3ft  apart (I heard one CDC individual say 6ft)
  5. FEEL SICK? Stay home

My Personal Actions

What I've been doing here in the home to prepare:

We had prepared with Clorox Wipes for carts and things took my homemade hand sanitizer as well. When we arrived at Sam's Club the greeter was already wiping down the handles of the buggy.

GROCERY SHOPPING IN A CROWD OF PANICKING PEOPLE: I did go out for our usual grocery shopping, it was horrible! People are panicking and that is not good for anyone.  They almost raked the shelves into their buggies aka shopping carts. Items were ransacked bags torn things damaged in the hectic rush by some. I'm glad I no longer am in retail.  It saddens me how some of the public acts. There are good people too thank goodness! Needless to say Catie and I got out of there as quickly as possible. Many people in close contact (too close for comfort) in an enclosed building, that is not a good thing at this time.

REMOVING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS MATERIALS FROM PRODUCTS

When we returned home I began putting away items and I decided to remove outer boxes, wrappings. I Sprayed and on some things wiped with disinfectant to clean anything that could have been touched or coughed/sneezed on by anybody. **Products from manufacturing, delivery, unboxed, and positioned onto a shelf in a retail situation then picked up by consumers.  I may have gone a little overboard but that is what I wanted to do. Plus monitor anything and anyone that may come into the house.

  • Wear gloves for this purpose and dispose of afterward.
  • IMPORTANT BE sure to wash your hands multiple times while doing this. DO not touch other germ-free surfaces, counters, etc, without washing your hands keeping the clean between steps.
  • I removed all that could be removed from the manufactured outside packaging on every item. Repackaged in my own bags, wraps, or placed into my pantry containers. Labeled with expiration dates etc.
  • Used Clorox Wipes to clean what couldn't be removed such as on canned goods. When wiping do so covering the area, but do not wipe repeatedly because that drys it too quickly removing the disinfecting product.
  • If you spray with a product such as Lysol, let it dry on its own.  Do not wipe dry because that will render it useless.
  • Dispose of the outer packaging materials that were removed. Take out of your home as quickly as possible.
  • WIPE surfaces more than usual. Every surface that is touched handrails, doorknobs, etc.
  • LAUNDER Towels, cloths daily. Change out dishcloths hand towels more than once daily is need-be depending on the amount of use. DO NOT SHAKE YOUR LAUNDRY that may spread the virus through the air as noted above in info.

Remove all bags, boxes, etc from the groceries.

I do think we should all do what can be done to stop the spread of this virus before it gets out of hand. Stay home if need be, steer clear of crowded places, exercise good judgment in all things. Follow the guidelines.

It stands to reason if we don't want to catch anything we stay clear of sources of infection, right?  Someone has a stomach bug do we visit? Not me!  Other than to bring food, meds, or something and drop it off right?  The same with anything that is contagious.  This thing  evidently is contagious so we do what we are told as those that know the facts inform us.

I do know believers in Jesus Christ have peace and a feeling of calmness that is there and no explanation of that except for the faith. He is there for all.

Stay Safe, Be Courteous, Think of Others' Safety as well as your own, Do What You Can Do.  Above All Do Not Panic but Wash your hands. Everything is going to be alright. You know, This too shall pass.

While we are going to be quarantined we might as well be productive and have some fun!  We love our home here and enjoy being here, so not much of a stretch.  I do intend to really deep clean around here and maybe take the time to watch movies and enjoy family time. It is that time of year and I'm already gardening.  Catie and I put in a new strawberry patch, planted some fruit trees that take some care until established.  It's time to plant flowers and vegetables soon too!  Exciting I love Spring.  Everything will be greening up sprouting and coming to life!  The chickens will be laying more.  We love those fresh eggs they can't be beaten in flavor.  We have some new/old pets that have come home to roost as well.  A dog you may remember named Oskar and a cat named Trash Mouth. Those two are characters and I know you'll love them.

I hope you'll each find something to enjoy during this time. Take care, Friends! I'll be thinking of and praying for you all. Stay safe!

*UPDATE THIS POST WAS DONE WHEN THE PANDEMIC FIRST EMERGED AND THE PANIC BEGAN.  HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THIS TODAY OVER A YEAR LATER?  I HAVE NO IDEA.  OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN DISRUPTED FOR FAR TOO LONG. I SHARED WHAT I KNEW AT THE TIME OR THOUGHT I KNEW.  I NOW HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON THE ENTIRE TOPIC! I GUESS HINDSIGHT IS 20/20

  1. Great post! We also went to the grocery store the other day. People were actually in good moods, respectful and friendly. However, you could see panic in their eyes and quickness in their shopping. You could also see the sadness on their faces when they went for toilet paper and it was gone. That was 3 day ago. I bet its different now. We will have to go again probably this weekend. We never stock up with a lot of food as we prefer fresh. But we did get more can foods and frozen items than we normally do. Stay safe me sweet friend.

    1. Hey Lisa
I'm very glad for your experience while shopping.  Maybe I just went on a frantic day when the news hit hard or something. This thing is taking a toll and making for sadness in all. We have to keep moving on though and I know we will. I have to pick up a few necessities and hopefully find some of the things I couldn't before.  I will try my best to stay safe and I sure want you to!  Love ya!
