In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.
I'll be all in clover and when they look you over,
I'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter parade.
On the avenue, fifth avenue, the photographers will snap us,
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure.
Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Easter bonnet,
And of the girl, I'm taking to the Easter parade.

Do you remember wearing an Easter Bonnet?
FAMILY TRADITIONS
I remember!
Daddy would give Mama money and on the Saturday before Easter, we would go shopping.
We girls got a new dress, of course, a bonnet, a new pair of white gloves to wear to church and of course we had to have a new crinoline, white tights or lace socks to go with our new Easter Shoes.
The brothers would get new shoes socks a new suit depending on the age, with shorts or long pants.
When I grew older I would make my own Easter dresses and when I married made my little girls ruffled and embellished to the hilt.
That dates me back, doesn't it? Do you have memories of Easter?
Today I thought I would Share Easter Bonnets

I loved this post on Easter bonnets, Dolly! I've worn my share of them when I was young. I still love wearing hats to this day but most of them are straw ones!
ReplyDeleteI love Easte bonnets. I used to wear them every Easter Sunday for church in Manhattan's St. Patrick's Cathedral. I still love hats! Great images, too. Enjoy your weekend.

ReplyDeleteWow!! I can't imagine wearing them
ReplyDeleteLOL- Imagine some of those. Guess what? I had one like the third one down with all the blossoms all over it- mine were all in shades of blue though- That was in the 60's. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteI love your Easter bonnet post! What fun! I had to wear a hat to church, and I remember Easter bonnet contests on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, N.J.
ReplyDeleteHave a Joyous Easter, Dolly! Linda
Hi Dolly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! My mom always dressed us up with hats, purses, gloves and new shoes! She made our dresses too! The days of hats seem to have vanished (except in England)! Have a great Easter!
