Oh my gosh, I love cream puffs! Do you? This is a recipe I've had and used for years. I hope you enjoy these as much as we do here! While you're at it you might as well dip some strawberries and pretzels in chocolate! Yummy!
Cream Puff Recipe
Cream Puffs
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- Cream Filling Recipe *see below
I made these in a miniature muffin tin
Directions:
Preheat Oven 400 degrees F
- Heat water and butter to rolling boil.
- Stir in flour, stirring over low heat about 1 minute or until mixture forms a ball.
- Remove from heat.
- Beat in eggs, all at one time; continue beating until smooth.
- Drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls 3 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 35-40 minutes or until puffed and golden.
- Cool completely away from any drafts.
- Cut off tops, pull any filaments of soft dough. You may also pipe the cream into the puffs.
- Carefully fill puffs with the filling of your choice.
- Replace tops and dust lightly with confectioner's sugar.
- Refrigerate until serving time.
Makes 12 regular or 24 miniature cream puffs
Baked to golden brown and cooling
Cream Filling Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup whipping cream
- 1/3 cup sifted powdered confectioner's sugar
- 3 cups fresh sliced strawberries Optional
- Chocolate melted to drizzle Optional
Directions:
- Beat whipping cream until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form.
- Optional: Fold three-fourths of sliced strawberries into cream *if you are making regular cream puffs. *Set aside for miniature cream puffs.
- Arrange remaining strawberries on top.
- Replace the tops back on the cream puffs
- Dust with powered sugar if desired.
- Drizzle melted chocolate over the tops if you wish
Ready to serve!
Another Recipe Option for Cream Filling
Ingredients
- Jello Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding Pie Filling Small Size
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- Confectioner's sugar Optional
- Chocolate for melting and drizzling Optional
Directions:
- Whisk together 2 minutes
- Store in refrigerator until chilled and set
- Pipe pudding into cream puffs or cut tops off and fill
- Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar
- Drizzle with melted chocolate
