Pumpkins From July

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!

I love it!  They're free too!  Thanks to friends and family who gave me pumpkins last year!
It's now September, and these are still here!
I'm using this as a journal to keep up with the pumpkin growth

Beneath the Children's Slide

The large pumpkin which voluntarily grew in the large compost

I moved it to this location for safety, because rodents like to visit the compost pile

It's the first to come up and a tough one

Looks to be decomposing maybe because it came up in the rich compost pile

The smaller one is still growing in this location beneath the slide

The side view which is in front of the main compost

You can see the hand pump and children's slide where other pumpkins are growing as well

Big vines and beautiful blooms coming out through the old picket fence compost pile

Covering the raised garden beds planted with strawberry plants and marigolds

The second pumpkin to grow from the main compost pile

Peeking underneath the huge leaves and blooms

It was so much fun to see them grow

Many other pumpkins are beginning to form along the vines

I can't wait to see them

This beauty was partially eaten by something in late August

I see lots of seeds that may become next year's crop!

The view in early June From in front of the main compost, I love the rustic look

A small pumpkin vine is coming through the missing slat on the right

Growing onto the Marigold planter

I was planning to replace the old 'falling down' fence,

But I got busy gardening and decided to leave it

The raised garden planter built by my sister is still going strong as a stand for the hand pump!

You may remember I turned it upside down for this purpose

I like it!

It's fun to use what you have on hand

Do you do that?

Have a Great Week!
