FALL FLOWER GARDEN WALK

Rose of Sharon Lavender Flowers (Hibiscus) Proven Winners
Purchased in early spring at Home Depot

Today I'm sharing some of the plants in the new round flower bed planted in the old pool spot!

A bare spot free of grass and weeds is a gardener's blank slate, a canvas for plants, a dream!

Like Mama liked to say, "When life gives you lemons make lemonade"

This small beauty is producing such huge blooms already in its young life. The tiny limbs fall from the weight of its blooms. I like the colors which vary almost daily.

Proven Winners Pugster Amethyst Butterfly Bush, a compact plant from Home Depot

It's not the most beautiful now, but it is still a show-stopper. It is one of my new favorite plants and it blooms non-stop! Debbie, a dear friend tells me they can be rooted easily so I will be doing that!

Spanish Purple Perennial Lavender Stoechas

Purchased in the spring from Home Depot unbranded. This compact plant is full of beautiful dainty braided blooms!

I found the Lo and Behold Blue Chip;, Jr. very hard to keep alive. Mine have looked awful the entire time. I purchased three. One is dead and two are trying to survive. They're not as hardy or easy to grow as the Pugster! I personally won't be buying anymore.

The Lavender Garden in the pool spot

A few colorful roses and plants accompany the lavender plants.

Up front is Lavender Verbena then a Sprinter Boxwood shrub Home Depot.  I have a few all around the edges of this garden.

The clump of brown drying leaves in front of the shrub is a Proven Winner  Peachberry Ice Coral Bells Heuchera from Home Depot  which has been a headache trying to keep alive. I won't be planting any more Coral Bells Heuchera here and don't recommend them.

Proven Winners Sprinter Boxwood Shrub Home Depot and Homestead Verbena lavender

Mama gave me a rooted piece of verbena many years ago. Rootings of that very plant have been moved to three different home gardens of mine. They are extremely hardy in our location. I love the fact that they spread fairly easily but thankfully aren't too invasive.

Proven Winners Sprinter Boxwood is a new favorite of mine
I've put two by the front door

Ignore the blankies and toys these two love the front porch.

The Sprinter Boxwoods I absolutely love and highly recommend!  My new favorite boxwood!

Below are Some of the Not-So-Pretty Fall Plants Starting to Reseed

Assorted flowers in the raised garden beds

Celosia and others are not at their prettiest but seeding out for beautiful flowers next year! Don't you love that some gardens can re-seed themselves? Money-saving at its best! Let nature take its course. Sit back and next year wait for the blooms. They're also pretty easy once the huge blooms have dried to plant the seeds in other areas.

Zinnias are grown from seed in a variety of colors in the garden.

I really like the coloration in this one. The deep dark color inside the bottom is quite pretty. Showing off even in the Fall. Grandmother was right you can't beat flowers and vegetables from seeds. (she'd probably faint at the price and low germination rates of current seeds).

Vibrant Marigolds and Zinnias in September-raised gardens

Marigolds are another favorite! Growing and blooming strong all season long, then reseeding for next year! They are one of the best, hardiest, dependable pollinators here. Bees, butterflies, and others really depend on them. Plus my gardens really benefit from them! They readily re-seed for another season's worth of beauty! Place them in a great location, leave them alone let them do their thing and you'll have many plants year after year after year.

Fall flowers at their best before Winter sleeping and critters doing what they do.

Variegated Liriope is a great low-growing plant great for edging now in September bloom.

Mama gave me the first cuttings years ago. These plants also have been moved or started at many homes since. I've had these little plants here for 18 years. I may when dividing these place some in the round gardens.

My Little whimsical Frog Buddy the rain gauge, the family gave me!

This little friend doesn't usually look this bad, looks like he's had one too many! He's lost an eye from some high winds, I need to try to find it! But tough as he is he's still going strong.

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL
