Spotlight: "Banjo Lady Martha Richburg Dimery"

You know I had to ask about her love of the banjo and when she began playing. She has been gracious enough to share with us her stories.  The following is her banjo story, in her own words:

I started playing the banjo about 10 years ago....after the death of my beautiful daughter...Amanda..She was a 32 year old schoolteacher who taught in Darlington County....She died with a malignant brain tumor...I ALWAYS LOVED THE SOUND OF BANJO MUSIC..and this is the reason I chose the banjo...I needed an outlet so that I wouldn't think about the loss of my child all of the time...I told God that if He would give me the knowledge to learn how to play that I would praise him with the stringed instrument....and He has helped me to learn enough that I can have a good time "Jamming" with other who play bluegrass..county and gospel music...

I play on Friday nights at Cain's BBQ FROM 6:30 P.M.-8:30 p.m. with great musicians and I ..sometimes play at The American Music Barn in Marion, S. C. ....Sat. nights...8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. I am blessed to have a Gibson Banjo...one of the finest sounding instruments available..

Martha I want to thank you so much for sharing your touching stories with all of us.
Friends I hope you will join Chuck and me.
Let's go see Martha!
