Little Landscaping ~ Little Crapemyrtles

Does Summer keep you as busy as it does me?  There is always something to do.  This post was supposed to be done in July.  Well since I went to the trouble to take the pictures I might as well do it now.

The Little Crapemyrtles love the addition of pine straw

My husband tells me that I plant so much that it is like an obstacle course.  He has a point I really do.
You may remember when I ordered a truckload of straw.  I still have some left but not from lack of places to put it.  Do you know how hot it has been here in South Carolina?  Whew, it has been hot and dry....

I don't know what I'd do without my little cart

The Little Ole Bench

I put this old bench of mine in this spot because in the future I hope to have a little rectangular pond .  I plan to put it right in between the two rows of trees.  I can't decide if it will be a koi pond or a lap pool but either way it will be a good location.

I love this little antique tool box.  I use it to carry my little essential gardening tools around.
Thankful for such beautiful views all around the property.

 View Facing House
I know, I can't draw, plant, or lay a straight line.  I like to think that gives everything character!
(that's what I'm saying and I'm sticking to it..)

Getting closer!

Imagine that Oak Leaf Hydrangea on the right is planted and the rows line up...They do now but it is too overcast to get a good pic...
Now, can you imagine the long rectangular koi pond or lap pool placed somewhere in the middle?  I can and hope to make it a reality. (Unless I change my mind of course.  You know how we women are.)

I think that this has made two things very happy.  My husband and the little Crapemyrtle Trees!  Now he can cut the grass easier.  It finally rained and we are so grateful.  The grass that was dying now needs cutting, and the little trees are beginning to thrive!

  1. Dolly, It looks beautiful. I know it was a lot of work-but it pay off down the road. A pool between those lines would be a wonderful addition. They say if you can see it/visualize it- you can achieve it. Hope you are having a great month so far- xo Diana

  3. That would be really pretty. I wonder if you could have an accent piece in the middle of the pond like a fountain or statue? One tip- if you have raccoon, don't stock those big snails that clean ponds. Our disappeared almost overnight as the raccoon had a wonderful escargot dinner.

    1. Thank you Kathy! I agree it needs an accent piece to draw attention...I have the stool there until I can figure that one out! I love your fountain feature on your front lawn. Your home and fountain are beautiful! I'd be amazed if I am able to keep any stock in mine because of the wildlife here.
You know we even had an otter out there last year in that spot...I hate your snails got eaten.
