I spoke in my last post about wanting to make my own skin cream. I made the following with items that I had on hand, but used the formula found at Organic Authority.
I did some research as to what oils are used in the making of skincare products, and also learned the way the skin responds to each. I still need to learn more that's for sure but it's a start anyway.
I guess you could say this is a work in progress. I'll update as any results from the use of these and if I attempt to branch out a little farther on my own in making more.
I'll call it as they did an anti-aging face cream. It will be nice if it works well. I'm anxious to see and think of the money we'll save making our own!

My Mixtures:
- Each recipe makes approximately 1/2 cup of cream
- The cream will last for about 3 months
- 1/4 cup Grapeseed oil
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon shea butter
- Frankincense essential oil 5 drops (optional)
- 1/4 cup Jojoba oil
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 1 tablespoon shea butter
- Lavender essential oil 6 drops (optional)
You will need:
1 small glass bowl or jar with lid for storing your cream
I glass jar or pyrex bowl
1 saucepan
1 rack
OR
1 double boiler
DIRECTIONS
In double boiler or pot with or rack and glass jar or bowl heat 3 - 4 inches of water on medium low
fill bowl with all ingredients
Stir ever so of often to help melt ingredients together.
Stay close by and watch often.
When all has melted remove carefully using pot holders pour into your smaller container without it's lid to cool and harden

It gets harder as it cools.
Lavender Jojoba Cream
Pictures left to right: Hardened cream after a week. I whipped it with a blender attachment. The finished product in last picture.**note I don't know how hard this whipped mixture will become in time, but I'll let you know. It whipped up very pretty smooth.
Lavender Jojoba Cream Whipped
It looked like vanilla pudding, so I had to prevent myself from licking the spoon or beaters.
My Notes
- I was surprised at how hard it became when cooling. I say hard but you can take your finger and lightly rub to get a small amount on to use.
- This should be used at night and when I say add with a light touch I mean a very light touch. Which can be either bad or good. If you put on too much wipe it off softly with a tissue.
- It is extremely greasy.
- I don't know why they call it a cream when in reality it is like a salve for me. It could be the South Carolina heat.
- I'm glad the beeswax holds it together. Without it I think the coconut oil would be melting in our high temps.
- I used lavender essential oil not because I like it so much but it is one of the few that I know because of my homemade deodorant, that I'm not allergic to. Basically the deodorant and face cream share a few ingredients.
- It was easy enough to find the ingredients at Amazon. I need to get some sweet almond oil I hear that is great.
- Sam's Club Tresomega Nutrition Organic Refined Coconut Oil
- Amazon Links Products I Used:
- Grapeseed oil by Maple Holistics
- Now Organic Jojoba Oil
- Beeswax Organic Pastilles 100% Pure by Larkin Company
- Jason Vitamin E Oil
- Cleopatra's Choice Shea Butter Raw Unrefined Premium
- Essential Oils by Virgo Essential
Disclosure: I did not receive any of the above products for use. I purchased them myself for use.
Results
- I have to say my skin was soft, supple, and looked really good the next day.
- There were no allergic reactions for me and that was a plus!
- Chuck kept telling me all week how cute I looked, hey it's working! Seriously it is doing pretty good!
- I'll update later as to how well it is working, or not.
- I will be trying the Frankincense Grapeseed Cream later and update as to the results on that.
SHAVING CREAM FAILURE! 😢
Now I'll tell you about a mess! This pretty shaving cream below full of good things for your skin but no good! The coconut oil melts here in the heat and Chuck can't stand the smell. It is far too greasy for him to shave with. A bust! I threw it away! I may try another mixture to see if one can be made successfully and update if I find that perfect mix.
