Baked Smoked Ham With Orange Marmalade Glaze

What do you do when you don't have your go to ingredients for your Ham Glaze?  You search the pantry, because who wants to go to the grocery store at busy times?  Not me!  I searched the pantry high and low no pineapple.  I did however see a can of cherry pie filling the only thing sweet in there. Then it hit me use some of the Orange Marmalade to make your glaze!  Problem solved.

Recipe Next...

Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Basically you should time your ham at 15 minutes per pound.

1-12 Lb Smoked Ham Butt
Wash and pat dry ham
Cover bottom an sides of baking pan with heavy duty aluminum foil for easier cleaning.
Place ham in pan
Pour about 2 cups of cold water in the bottom of pan
Cover tightly with aluminum foil
Bake for 2 1/2 hours

Make the glaze now while it is baking

Glaze
In medium sized bowl mix the following together thoroughly, and set aside.
2- 8oz. Orange Marmalade : Mine homemade in Ball Crystal 8 oz Jelly Jars
1/4 cup Prepared Yellow Mustard
1/4 cup Grey Poupon Mustard
2 cups Light Brown Sugar
1/3 cup Orange Juice
1/2 teaspoon Allspice

At the 2 1/2 hour time turn up the heat to 425 degrees

Remove foil or cover:
Suction broth/water that has cooked out of ham and put into a heat proof container, set aside. This will prevent your thick sweet glaze from watering down and falling off ham, while basting.
Baste Ham by brushing on glaze
Do this every 10 minutes for 30 - 45 minutes
Check ham temp

*Tip I take large fork & test different sections of ham after the high temp basting 30 minutes. It the fork does not glide in easily, then cook checking in 10 minute intervals.  If the fork goes in easily then promptly remove ham from oven.  Place on cooling rack and let stand for at least 20 minutes, before slicing.

Have you ever made Orange Marmalade?
I have by hand and also with the help of the Ball Jam Maker.

Look at the smile on little one's face!

This was a few years back. We did have fun making the marmalade, and going to the movies to watch Paddington Bear.
