The last post showing the dresser repurpose today. Gwen took her grandmother's bedroom dresser and combined it with doors from a cabinet in storage. She took those doors rebuilt to fit the dresser and painted a beautiful rooster on them. She took drawers from a side table to use in this project and painted the drawer pulls she had on hand. She had the lumber, all tools, stains and paints to make this project. She tried to make this for little to no cash spent.
She thought she was finished with the brown stain but then decided that wasn't the look she wanted, so she painted it white. It matches her 1940s cabinet trims and bar stools.
I think she did a pretty good job of it since she spent only $6.97 for lacquer. Great job Gwen!
Come on inside to see the finished kitchen island.
Her pride and joy on the island. Mama's Cookbook.
This picture was taken on a very sunny day but I wanted to add it anyway for you to see the island.
I hope you enjoyed this series of furniture makeovers. I sure enjoyed watching her turn unused furniture into a very useful piece. She has added more storage, counter space, and sit down eating room.
Great Job!

Do you see something and decide what you can make or do differently with it? I do it all the time, it has become second nature as a matter of fact.
Recycle, Reuse, Redo....
Wow! How nice. Is that marble top recycled from something else too?
ReplyDeleteHi Kristina,
DeleteThank you very much. Would you believe that is a wooden top that Gwen painted to look like marble. She is talented.
This post shows some of the stages it went through to get it the way it is now:

ReplyDeleteThank you Kim! I'll let her know she'll be pleased. I had to talk her into letting me show her work. She said, "Oh Dolly people won't want to see this." We do though don't we? xo
