Sweet BBQ Sauce

I love Bar-B-Qued Chicken!  We don't have it near enough, that's for sure.  It is awesome on the grill.  Some days like today when it is cold and rainy out cooking inside is a good idea. Baking or roasting is easy enough to do.  You find you don't have any sauce, this is easy to make... Give it a try.

This is one of the use what you have on hand recipes.

Easy Sweet Bar-B-Que Sauce

Ingredients

1/4 cup olive or vegetable oil
3/4 cup chopped/minced onion
1 tsp. minced garlic (2 cloves)
3/4 cup Ketchup
3/4 cup white or apple cider vinegar
3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup lemon juice (2 lemons)
3 Tbs.. granulated sugar or honey
1/2 tsp. dried mustard
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Optional: Dash or two of your favorite hot sauce

Directions

Place oil in large pot.
Brown onions and garlic.  The browning well adds to the flavor of the sauce.
Add the remaining ingredients and simmer with the lid off for at least 15 minutes.

It is a rather thin sauce that thickens a little while simmering.

Simmering in the pot

I like to use this sauce sometimes on grilled or baked chicken

Preheat Oven 375 degrees

Bake your chicken until it starts to brown
Brush with sauce on one side continue cooking turn and coat other side with sauce.
Cook until chicken is cooked thoroughly and brown to your liking.
Rest 5-10 minutes
Serve while warm

I hope you enjoy this very simple recipe
Stay warm and dry
