Mama's Southern Pecan Pie Recipe

Fall has arrived and that brings several things to mind. Cooler weather and the pecans will soon be falling from the trees!

We no longer have the trees but have fond memories of gathering the pecans. We definitely were thinking of what delicious things we were going to make with them. After all the holidays were coming soon!

This is a great old favorite recipe passed down from Mama.  It's delicious!

1 1/2 cups pecan pieces
Handful of whole pecan halves for garnish on top
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup light or dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
1/2 tsp. salt
1 homemade pie crust or frozen unbaked pie shell

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Spread pecan pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet,
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes to toast
Stir together eggs, sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla flavoring and salt.
Stir in pecan pieces
Pour into unbaked pie shell
Top with pecan halves if desired

Bake for 55 minutes shielding pie crust with shield or foil to prevent burning.

Cool 2 hours for easier slicing
May also be served cold

Serves 6 to 8

Enjoy your pie and Fall Fun!
