Do you know what is in the foil?
You may, but do you know that it works?
Come on in the kitchen and read all about it.
IMPORTANT NOTE I AM OPENING THIS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE FRIDGE SINCE PURCHASE
JANUARY 16TH TODAY IS FEBRUARY 26TH
Looks great!
My Thoughts
Most of you know that I cook constantly therefore I buy in bulk and store accordingly. I buy a 3 pack of celery at the time and wrap each one. If you do the same then: Be selective, by that I mean the one that looks to go bad quicker wrap and label 1. Do the same with the others saving the best looking one for the last to use. I have 3 of course 1, 2 & 3...Do not open the others until using the first one up..then continue on. Store those in the back of your drawer for safe cold keeping.
- Buy or use what you grow at it's freshest point
- Use only heavy duty foil
- Wrap immediately after coming home: Cover entirely no openings.
- Place it it the vegetable bin of your refrigerator checking and setting the humidity**mine has been set to the lowest humidity**
Moving on down you can see the brown on the edges.
That is pretty much what I would cut off of it anyway.
A closer look at the ends beginning to turn brown
Checking this end out, it is turning brown now too
Look at how crisp this is, well trust me it is.
Can you believe the color? I can tell you it is as crisp as the #1 Celery
Did I tell you that this is Celery #2? Celery #3 is still in the fridge and it has no browning at the base and is just beginning to brown a little on edges...It may last for 2 more weeks who knows but I may have to use it depending on what I choose to cook.
Today is day 42 I still have another left to use. I used Celery#1 within the first week and it was the worst looking one of them.
YES IT WORKS!
IT IS CRISP!
CHOPS EASILY!
IT HAS FRESH FLAVOR!
JUST LIKE FIRST PURCHASED!
I have never seen this hint. That is one vegetable that I "lose" all the time because it gets bad before I use it all up. Thanks for this tip. You can bet i will be using it. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
DeleteI have lost so many myself so this tip I love. Hope you are having a great weekend! xo Dolly
This is a great tip and one I will definitely use.
ReplyDeleteIf celery that I've had in the fridge starts to go a little limp, I place it in a tall glass of cold water for half an hour and it firms right back up. :-)
I really was amazed. I had done it with regular foil and it didn't work well but with the heavy duty it worked like a charm. Keep it tightly wrapped though because if air get into it I have found out that makes it spoil faster. Thanks for the tall glass of cold water that is a great idea that I have not tried yet!
DeleteOH WOW!!
ReplyDeleteHow incredible....Need to remember this tip. I was just storing mine in a glass of water.
Thanks for sharing.
Hey Marissa,
DeleteWell today y'all are teaching me new tricks too and I'm grateful. Thank you and let me know how the heavy duty foil works for you.
Great idea, I bought some heavy duty foil accidentally so now I have a use for it.
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy! I'm glad and hope you get good results too!
