Have You Tried Celery Juice? Here Goes Nothing! Reading The Book Medical Medium by Anthony William

I've decided to go on the celery juice route. I see it everywhere and awhile back I ordered the book. We don't go into diets around here. I take that back Catie has us limiting our intake.  Chuck has taken to walking our long driveway! That is a win-win situation.

To say that we are people that make New Year's resolutions and would even stick to them is laughable. We learned a long time ago they just don't work for us. I admire you if they work for you!

You may know of my recent post about retirement. Chuck is now at home daily.  He is like a kid in the candy store when in the kitchen watching me cook!  The man loves to eat!  Trouble is I've gained weight and so has he since his retiring.  You stay at home women will understand when I say there is truth to the saying, "The Way to a Man's Heart is His Stomach".  Yeah, well, we are going to remedy that in this house.  I have way too many things to do than to stand at the stove 24-7!

Celery juice here we come! Bet he won't stand in the kitchen smiling when I use the brand new blender/juicer to make this!  He will drink it I'm sure though---or am I?  Here goes nothing!

Jane's Krazy Mixed-Up Salt Baked Potato

Who likes a real oven-baked potato?  I do every once in a while that's for sure.  You just can't beat the potato baked in the oven.  We may bake many in the microwave but they aren't the same.

I love a potato no matter how you cook it and have been known as someone who could live like a cow with a salt lick! I'm laughing but it's true!

Combining the two together is just an easy way to get what I like.  This without a doubt will be the quickest and easiest recipe post you'll ever see on here.

I'l Just Grow My Own Lettuce You Can Too!

Who loves salad?

I certainly do!  My daddy always said to mama, "Dot, don't give me any more of that rabbit food! I've had enough!" He would eat it sometimes but she couldn't put it before him all the time.  He was a meat and potatoes man! (wonder why my girls call me Ron Swanson, guess it is inherited, but I love all meats and veggies!)

It has become increasingly dangerous to eat salad lately, at home or in a restaurant.  There have been so many warnings and recalls on Romaine. Many people have gotten sick, some have died.

This past November a recall on some grown in Salinas California because of  E. coli. January 15th the CDC stated that it appears to be over. That is still enough to steer me away from it for a while.

We had some in the house over November and December that I'd purchased from Sam's Club. We threw it away.

Why is this happening to the Romaine? Contaminated irrigation water, cattle feedlots, manure.

Unsanitary growing conditions would be my guess.  Personally, as I'm known for keeping CAFOs away from our area that could be a reason for sure. Either way, it's a sad thing to worry constantly about food sources.

Working with strawberries over the years and watching knowing the irrigation sources have to be as clean as possible.  One main concern is how clean the workers' hands etc, are when harvesting produce.  I think many things could factor into it.

I don't wish my family nor I to be a statistic with kidney disease and many other health issues that could come from eating a salad!

It's enough to make you grow your own!

HOMEMADE HOT FUDGE SAUCE

It is Sunday afternoon and I want a hot fudge sundae!  We live thirty minutes away from almost anywhere and I am too blame lazy to go shopping. I need hot fudge sauce and I'm not going to town to get it!

Then I remembered I used to make hot fudge sauce but couldn't for the life of me remember how.

I found a recipe and it is pretty good!

Thoughts On Retirement When Both Are Home!

What a beautiful picture!

Today's post is about taking the time to enjoy the time!  Yes, the time we are supposed to have when we stop working. Will you do it?  Do we do it? Sometimes, but if you ask me not near enough.

It has occurred to me that I too often post things to do!  Always things to do!  What is the matter with me?  I really need to slow down!  Who am I kidding?  Will I, that is doubtful.  Have I though since officially retiring?  Why come to think of it I have!

This post today isn't about my retiring only, have to include the husband retiring.  This is a retirement post for stay at home wives whose husbands retire. I won't say advice, because I'm not that good at that yet!

Join me as I think, laugh, want to cry, and just plain enjoy sharing our experiences.

We Are On A Mission In The Cotton Field

The cotton was still in the field just before harvesting, and it was so pretty. The boys were with me and we had been cooped up inside for long enough. It was time for some outdoor fun!

On this particular day, we were drawn into the cotton field something just didn't look right. Some of the cotton plants appeared to have been trampled down. What caused this we didn't know, but we were going to find out.  It wasn't long before the boys saw footprints, animal tracks of some kind all over the place.

We were off on a mission! Join us on this journey in pictures.

New Year Steps To Keeping Things Clean And Organized!

The holidays are gone. This house has been full of loved ones.  The decorations are taken down, the rooms seem really empty.  All of this brings to mind heavy cleaning and maybe, redecorating the spaces.

The first thing that comes to my mind is organizing spaces that haven't been gone through lately.  You know the bookshelves, cabinets, drawers, etc. I'm in the living room now with these thoughts.  Most rooms in the house could use some tuning up, some need overhauls.

Today talking about these things.
